Behind this forest of bushes and shrubs lives a semi-detached bungalow that has been left to the elements in Plymouth.
The local council are aware of the property as it has enforced several section 215 notices on the owner but little has been done to rectify the problem.
Neighbours either side are obviously at their wit’s end with the place as the back garden is worse than the front.
One complained: “it’s like living next to a jungle full of old rubbish. We have even thought of going in there ourselves to clear it.”
This sort of ‘community clear-up’ isn’t as uncommon as one might think. Many empty properties have their front lawns cut by neighbours to keep the area looking decent, and we at SEH think this is a good idea that could be expanded upon.
